I love what I do. Normally, I bop around my little workshop like Hammy – with about the same attention span. But sometimes things get me down, like working on serious things (websites) and that gosh-darned eleventh century shmata which continues to defy me, and I start to lose my Joy. And then I was get email from people, and they had they Joy. And it’s making me sad. Laura has the joy, Rebecca has the joy, Mo-geek has the joy…. I decided to take my Joy back, by force if necessary.
Never one for pesky logic, I hatched a brilliant plan: the best way to get past the frustrations of the eleventh century dress was to make a new eleventh century dress. What huh? Ok, but I decided to just use the pattern and make something fantasy. I have a hard time finding sympathy for princesses – that comes from studying history. But a Maid Marion character who’s bloody given up waiting around for Robin Hood and his Merry Men to leave the pub and take on that overbearing Sherif? That I can get excited about!
So I gave myself a stress day on sunday, and made:
Details later – I have to go be an adult now, even though it’s completely obvious that I should be playing with dolls…. ;)
LOVE this. I am so in awe of people who can sew doll clothing. Just sewing teeny-tiny sleeves into teeny-tiny armholes makes me insane, so I have DEEP admiration. Plus, the safety pin is excellent.
Bring on the JOY! Have some of mine – I’m happy to share. Also? Thanks for the shout-out!
you still need tiny daggers? I’m a stay at home mom with jewelry training and time on my hands…
I still need them, but I’ve got my supplies and I’m sort of looking forward to a little therapy time with the baby-anvil. (Major therapy will have to wait until I start digging up the back yard.) Thanks for the offer, though!
This…is…brilliant. I want a dress like that in real life!
